Words of Caution
Even if you have irrefutable evidence that what you’ve experienced is paranormal, there are a number of things you need to be careful about. This isn’t a complete list, just a few things worth mentioning.
- The most important first: The paranormal scares children.
- There are few cases where it’s necessary to tell your children. Even if your experience was positive in nature you should approach telling your children with excessive caution.
- This is especially important with younger children, but your teenager might also be affected in a negative way by your experience.
- This applies to other people’s children, not just your own.
- Remain open-minded to the idea that your irrefutable evidence may be refutable. Many professional investigators with a lifetime of experience have been mistaken. This doesn’t necessarily invalidate any spiritual aspects of your experience, nor does it mean that you didn’t have a co-occurring paranormal event. (This item will be a full article. - Bluff City Paranormal holds the utmost respect for your religion/spirituality, but keep in mind that your religious/spiritual peers and leaders might be unnerved by what you share with them. Others might consider your paranormal experience a sign of mental illness, even if other people experienced the same thing. Be careful about alienating yourself from your religious/spiritual family. This is even more important if you continue to have negative paranormal experiences.
- If you have reoccurring experiences (positive or negative), share all your experiences with a friend or family member who believes you. It’s not important to tell many people, but don’t keep your experiences a secret.
- If you have been physically injured (very rare), you need to see a physician. We can help you find someone who you can be comfortable being honest with.
- Fear and untreated trauma can be destructive to your life.
- You don’t have to live in fear. Most people spend their lives with few (if any) paranormal experiences and don’t experience fear around a lingering paranormal presence or fear of recurring experiences. If you are experiencing these things, let people help you overcome these fears.
- If you’ve experienced psychological trauma due to your experiences, you should at least speak to a professional psychologist. We can help you find someone who is open-minded and will focus on healing your fear instead of trying to convince you it was your imagination.
